Direct Debit – What & Why
Simply, a Direct Debit is an electronic instruction from you to your bank or building society. It authorises the organisation you want to pay to collect varying amounts from your customers – but only if you’ve been given advanced notice of the amounts and dates of collection.
This can be done via an electronic signup process from your customer or using a paper-based Direct Debit mandate. Obviously the electronic version verifies the information and speeds up this process.
Once your customers have set up the Direct Debit mandate, the money is deducted automatically. If you wish to change the customer’s payment amount or date Direct Debit allows us to do this with a given certain amount of notice.
In a nutshell, Direct Debit is the simplest and most convenient way for your customers to pay regular payments.
SimplyCOLLECT acts as the collector and administrator this means we also take care of all the administration that goes with running a facility. This includes arrears, cancellations prices changes etc.
